Golden Lion Inn
Golden Lion Inn
La Posada del León de Oro reopened its doors in 2010, completely renovated, as a singular hotel with a unique design and with 17 rooms, all of them with their own personality
...SINCE 1880 Refuge for artists, actors and poets on the 12th century wall Located in Cava Baja, in the center of the La Latina neighborhood, known in 1880 as Manuel Fernández, and in 1881 already named Parador del León de Oro , this former inn dates from the late 19th century, although the building is probably from the mid-18th century, making it the oldest building on this street. Its historical character has been highlighted in the renewed aspect that it shows today: the rendering in soft yellow tones of the façade, the exposed wooden beams under the roof, the balconies with wrought iron bars overlooking the road, the front made up of granite ashlars, topped with a stone shield... Its owner for five generations has been the Sanz Montero family, responsible for the last transformation of the Inn, in which part of the 12th century Christian wall is recovered, that crosses the building from side to side and can be admired under a glass floor; This architectural element, together with its corrala patio, are the two most peculiar elements of the Inn. It also offers a restaurant with traditional cuisine, with a typical gastronomic offer from the center of the peninsula (Iberian products from Salamanca, meat from Ávila, traditional Castilian dishes) accompanied, of course, by the best wines.
