Francisco del Río Alonso acquired a bread office in 1910, already in operation at the same location on Calle del Prado since 1891, and turned it into the bakery that has carried his last name ever since

The marble of the counter from which the public was served, however, continues to fulfill its function in the store. In the early days, the bread arrived in carts from the bakery and the bakery staff "did races", as they said at the time, with the bread in baskets to sell it in the area. Although the main activity was the sale of bread and buns, they were also allowed to sell other products such as vinegar and wine. Upon the death of the owner of the bakery, Francisco del Río, his widow, Victoria del Amo, continued with the business, and from her it passed to her son in the middle of the last century.
When he retired, the establishment was taken over by his son and grandson of the bakery's founder, Miguel Ángel del Río, who has expanded the business's activity by including a wide variety of products on its shelves, but without forgetting to continue with the tradition. family that makes them a special trade: dispatching high-quality artisan bread made in a tahona.
