The Bread Flower
The Bread Flower
SINCE 1888 The bakery in the Salesas neighborhood The year was 1888 when Ramona Pereira opened a bread office at number 22 Argensola street, making La Flor del Pan one of the oldest bakeries in Madrid
...
The bakery has always been run by a member of the Pereira family. In 1938 it has a new address, Argensola number 28, but not because of a change of premises, but rather due to the numbering change that occurred in the streets of Madrid in the 1930s. José Fernández Pereira, better known as Don José in the neighborhood, has been the penultimate owner of the establishment and the one who has lasted the longest at the helm of the business so far. Today it is Don José's niece, Ana Bravo, who together with her husband, Enrique García, runs the place. Since 2013 we can find La Flor del Pan at number 17 of the same Argensola street, in a new space that combines the old and the modern, where we can enjoy breakfast and lunch at the tables of the premises, since they have expanded their services to a limited but exquisite restoration, also available to take away. And, of course, we can also continue buying the quality, totally natural artisan bread that they have been offering to their public for more than a century.
