
ABANTOS BAKERY WINS THE “BEST BREAD IN MADRID 2024” AWARD

Obrador Abantos , an artisan bakery in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, has been proclaimed “ The Best Bread in Madrid ” in the seventh edition of the competition organized by the Matador Club.
The jury, chaired by renowned food critic José Carlos Capel, was made up of six professionals from the baking industry, who conducted a blind tasting to choose the winner from among the 35 participating bakeries.
During the evaluation process, five essential criteria were assessed: appearance, baking, crumb, smell and taste. The award-winning loaf stood out for its delicate, juicy and elastic crumb, in contrast to its thick and crunchy crust.
Obrador Abantos, founded in 2019 by brothers David and Alberto Solana together with Mercedes Pérez, is a young project that stands out for its commitment to quality bread, using top-quality ingredients and a careful selection of flours.
