...SINCE 1861 The art of measuring flat wines Vinos 11 (so called because it is located at number eleven Calle Calatrava), also known as Casa Dani, is one of the most charming historical taverns in traditional Madrid in La Latina, one step away of the Royal Basilica of San Francisco el Grande. In the 1970s, Eugenio Humanes took over the business, expanded it and hired a very special collaborator: Daniel Iglesias, Dani, an artist measuring flats (that is, capable of always filling wine glasses to the same height), who In 1984, he bought the premises, preserving the original elements of the tavern: the carved wooden bar, the gas lamps, the old cash register, the original cast iron and marble tables from the early days of the tavern. Likewise, it gives a qualitative leap to the tavern in terms of the genre it serves, and which continues today. After the disappearance of his father, Dani Jr. takes over the establishment, determined to maintain his work. The tavern's specialties are Valdepeñas wine, served in traditional Madrid chatos, and a high-quality culinary offer, including its famous pork rinds.
