Hongkong 70
Hongkong 70
This project opens its doors in 2019, locating a differentiated space in several environments on Calle Toledo nº28 in Madrid, but with a common purpose: to bring to Madrid the traditional recipes of Hong Kong, the Asian cradle of Chinese gastronomy.
...Paloma Fang decided to transfer to this restaurant, not only the most representative dishes of the province of Canton, but also a separate space on two floors and inspired, at the top, by a Chinese game room from the 70s and a traditional street food stall or dai pai dong from where you can see how they cook the dishes through the hanging lacquered ducks that decorate the shop window. In the lower part, a giant bird cage that functions as a reserved space welcomes diners, and an exposed brick cave-style room offers an intimate atmosphere thanks to its dim lighting and the neon lights that decorate its main wall. This plant, for its part, is inspired by a vintage Chinese theater. Hence its bird cages and the fringed curtains that adorn the semicircular arches of the ceiling.
The house brand is its commitment to 100% Cantonese cuisine, in the most traditional way and prepared by native chefs specialized in this type of cuisine. On the menu, a wide variety of starters such as Won Ton or spring rolls, rice and noodles with vegetables, meat and seafood, steamed stuffed dim sums, fresh vegetables the same day and, the house specialty, roasts of meat like the Hong Kong Style Duck, the torreznos or the delicious char siu.
