paco house
SINCE 1890 Tavern for wine, cards and dominoes It was founded in 1890 as the classic tavern for wine, cards and dominoes. The latter are responsible for the traditional "Burial of the Sardine" leaving here for San Antonio de la Florida
...In the 1930s, it was refounded and reformed by Francisco Morales, Paco, who turned it into a popular meeting place for cattle dealers, jewelers, charcoal burners, plumbers, bullfighters, writers and flea market antique dealers. Famous visitors: Ava Gardner, Ernest Hemingway, Samuel Bronston, Palomo Linares, Conchita Montes, Francisco Rabal, Fernando Fernán Gomez... It closed during the Civil War and after the war the stew began to be served in individual pots for 25 cents, tradition that has reached the present day: on Tuesdays there is cocido at Casa Paco, also famous for its French-style meat served on hot stone.
