The Fisherman Bar
The Fisherman Bar
SINCE 1892
Squid and cane well shot in a traditional bar. Anyone who believes that the Plaza Mayor in Madrid is the only traditional place to eat the typical calamari sandwiches is because they don't know the El Pescador bar. at the helm of El Pescador
...To verify it, it is enough to go any Sunday, Rastro day, to confirm that a pin does not fit in the premises. Located in the heart of Puerta de Toledo, El Pescador was founded in 1892 by Domingo Mollejo, in front of the former cattle slaughterhouse. This slaughterhouse was demolished in 1930 and replaced by the Madrid Central Fish Market, today converted into the Puerta de Toledo Center. After Mollejo, Arturo Torregrosa went on to run the bar, which he kept until 1947, when it was acquired by Cruz Benito, grandfather of the third generation of the Benito family who currently runs the business: from 1960 to 2000 he ran the establishment José Benito Sr., while the twenty-first century would enter with José Benito Jr. Classic bar with portions (of the already mentioned squid, bravas, snails, tripe...), well-pulled beers, tap vermouth, Rioja or Ribera wines, traditional bar, terrace all year round, cordial treatment and know how to do. This is The Fisherman.
From Monday to Sunday 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
