The young couple who run the tavern have given a modern touch to the menu of this old tavern, but preserving its traditional atmosphere, so that they have managed to elegantly combine "the old and the new" of this endearing place located in a privileged area in front of two Madrid jewels: the Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral. In 1909, it was ceded to Luís Montón, who patented the wine brands “el Viejo”, “los Viejos” and “el Anciano Rey”, from which the name of the current tavern comes, which, by the way, continues to sell these wines. During the Republican era, the word KING had to be removed from the sign and the tables.
