Hospitality Madrid organizes a gastronomic route through the districts of the capital to celebrate its 140th anniversary

Madrid, June 2022.- HOSTELERÍA MADRID, the reference association for hoteliers in the region, celebrates its 140th anniversary with La Ruta 140 Madrid, a culinary tour with locals from the 21 districts of the city, with which they want Madrid residents and visitors learn about the interesting gastronomic proposals that exist throughout Madrid, beyond the traditional circuit or the one that becomes fashionable depending on the moment. The more than one hundred participating establishments will offer, from June 14 to July 17, the dish with which they started their journey and the one that, at present, is most successful among their clientele. In this way, they explain from HOSTELERÍA MADRID, businesses will be able to tell the public what their history is, make them aware of their origins and also their evolution.

A ROUTE TO EAT MADRID

Although the route extends for more than a month, the initiative will be activated every week in a set of districts. Thus, from June 14 to 19, the route will take place in Centro, Arganzuela, Carabanchel and Chamartín; from June 20 to 26, in Salamanca, Chamberí, Hortaleza and Latina; from June 27 to July 3, it will be the turn of Retiro, Ciudad Lineal, Fuencarral, Moncloa-Aravaca and San Blas-Canillejas. Puente Vallecas, Villa de Vallecas, Tetuán and Usera will have the active itinerary from July 4 to 10, while from July 11 to 17, it will be the turn of Moratalaz, Barajas, Vicálvaro and Villaverde.

DELICIOUS DISHES AND A GASTROCULTURAL WEBSITE

In La Ruta 140 Madrid, some well-known venues in the capital participate, with a long history. Docamar , the temple of the bravas in Madrid (located in the Ciudad Lineal district) participates in the gastro tour with two dishes to publicize its menu, in which there are many more things apart from the well-known potatoes: a mushroom risotto with tomato dry and arugula is the original proposal, and some artisanal black ravioli stuffed with portobello and wakame with their homemade sauce and spirulina powder wink at the future. El Anciano Rey de los Vinos , a downtown tavern inaugurated in 1909, will offer to all those who pass through its beautiful bar little gifts of torito, a traditional dish that was served in the tavern, but with a renewed recipe: oxtail wrapped in filo pastry with sauce and piquillo pepper. For its part, Manolo 1934 , a must for the best traditional cuisine, vindicates its Madrid-style tripe and will serve, as a suggestion, the manolinis, some curious homemade ravioli stuffed with stew, while Casa Pedro participates with its pickled sardines. Many more modern places also participate, such as La Berenjena , which brings its eggplant chips with salmorejo to the appointment; Níquel , which will serve its nickel-plated gilda based on tuna, piparra, anchovy and olive or La Caníbal , which will boast its kimchi-based Iberian torreznos.

Route 140 Madrid also wants to be a space for the dissemination of the gastronomic history of the capital. For this reason, HOSTELERÍA MADRID has prepared a website in which it explains the culinary evolution of each district, and in which the list of participants and a map with the venues can be consulted.
