WORLD PASTA DAY, A TRIBUTE TO ONE OF THE MOST UNIVERSAL AND NUTRITIOUS FOODS
2024/10/25
This October 25th is World Pasta Day , a date dedicated to paying tribute to one of the most complete, versatile and renowned foods in the world. The event, which began in 1995 with the first international Pasta Congress held in Rome, seeks to highlight the value of pasta as an essential part of Mediterranean cuisine and its ability to adapt to cultures and cuisines around the world.
Pasta has a history spanning over 4,000 years that transcends borders. Its first traces can be found in China, where noodles were made from wheat flour and water, marking the beginning of a legacy that would evolve over the centuries. In Italy, pasta became popular during the Middle Ages, giving rise to such emblematic varieties as ravioli, fusilli and spaghetti. Later, pasta arrived in America, and at the end of the 19th century, it became part of the culture of the United States with the arrival of Italian immigrants.
Today, pasta is one of the most widely consumed foods in the world and comes in a huge variety: from fresh and dried pasta to stuffed and creative pasta, in a range of colours and flavours that continues to evolve according to the taste and creativity of each cook. World Pasta Day celebrates not only the variety of shapes and flavours, but also the nutritional value of a food that has brought different cultures together around the table.
On this special date, many will celebrate by enjoying their favorite pasta dish, whether it is a traditional Italian recipe or a more modern interpretation.
