...SINCE 1832 The oldest hat shop in Madrid Little did the customers who visited this establishment in the 19th century imagine that it would continue to be active, in the same Madrid location, in the second decade of the 21st century, a fact that makes it the oldest operating hat shop From the capital. Since it opened in 1832, with the usual changes in the numbering of such an old street and under different trade names (Abial, Cebrián, Dorado, de Miguel, and currently Medrano), this artisan hat shop has had time to manufacture hats made of all eras and for the most diverse public: ecclesiastical, military hats, traditional caps, top hats, boaters or monteras. It has been run since 1973 by the Medrano family (currently, by Beltrán and his son Héctor, second and third generations) and, either manufacturing for the entertainment world or fulfilling private orders, the highest quality of its production has turned this business into a benchmark workshop, as attested to by the Madrid Traditional Establishment and Traditional Madrid Craftsman awards given to this business by the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The portraits that hang on the walls of the establishment show some of the celebrities (Joaquín Sabina, José Luis Sacristán, Olga Ramos or Marta Sánchez) who have chosen a model from the store on one occasion or another
