...It is not for nothing that this business is considered by Spanish bibliophiles as one of the most prestigious centers in the country in its field, in addition to having national and European recognition as a supplier of bookbinding and folder materials. The Amillo family, owners of the business since 1910, left this establishment in the hands of the current owners in 1975, with the express wish that they would not change the activity of the business. Amillo has a vast catalog that ranges from decorative papers to bookbinding leathers, including all kinds of tools and machinery for professionals or amateurs (punchers, guillotines, shears, etc.), special gold for bookbinding, electric stoves, stones of agate and a host of other products. The most famous bookbinder craftsman is Antolín Palomino Olalla, from Burgos who came to Madrid very young and learned the trade from different masters. Starting in 1981, he was a vocational collaborator in the bookbinding workshop of the Artisan Printing House of the Madrid City Council. The Antolín Palomino Olalla Workshop School, founded in 1993 in memory of this great craftsman, is located right next to the store, on Calle Fuentes: thanks to its spirit, artisan bookbinding will continue to live for generations to come
