Madrid's municipal markets host inclusive cooking workshops
2026/04/06

The Madrid City Council is launching five inclusive cooking workshops at the Guzmán el Bueno and La Guindalera municipal markets, specifically designed for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The initiative, organized by the Department of Economy, Innovation, and Finance, coincides with World Autism Awareness Day and will take place throughout April.

The sessions will take place at the Guzmán el Bueno market on April 7, 8, and 9, and at the La Guindalera market on April 14 and 15. The program, a collaboration between the Ángel Rivière Foundation and the Vrulé Hospitality School for People with Disabilities, aims to transform cooking into a pedagogical tool that fosters the development of motor skills, personal autonomy, and socialization in a safe and supportive environment.

The workshops are free, but places are limited to ensure personalized attention. Registration is open exclusively to people with ASD and their caregivers and can be completed online through the Madrid City Council website by clicking here.

This initiative is part of the Gastronomic Classrooms of the Markets of Madrid, a program that since its launch has brought together more than 400 participants and is consolidating itself as one of the benchmarks of the city's educational and cultural offering.
