Madrid is expanding its network of municipal producer markets with the recent opening, on September 14, of the Villa de Vallecas Producers Market and the upcoming opening of the Latina Producers Market, which will be located in the district's Parque Europa space. The City Council is thus adding two new fairs to bring the great agri-food offer from small local producers to citizens directly and without intermediaries.

These markets, promoted by the Department of Economy, Innovation and Finance led by Engracia Hidalgo, come after the good reception of the Planetario and Valdebebas producer markets due to their commitment to bringing local or Km 0 products to the different neighbourhoods of Madrid, while promoting measures to support agroecological projects and stimulating quality sustainable and artisanal production and consumption, influencing the generation of new business opportunities and the economic development of the city.
Villa de Vallecas Producers Market: gastronomy, culture and leisure
In the heart of Ensanche de Vallecas, Madrid, the Villa de Vallecas Producers Market opens its doors, a monthly event that seeks to bring the public a carefully selected range of locally sourced agricultural and food products. From organic and artisanal foods to local products, this market has become a meeting point between producers and consumers who value the quality and freshness of local products, without intermediaries.
The market is held on the second Saturday of every month , from 10:00 to 16:00 , providing an excellent opportunity to learn about and purchase food directly from the hands of those who grow and produce it. In addition to its varied offering, it stands out for its welcoming atmosphere and the promotion of responsible and sustainable consumption.
The location chosen for this market is Avenida del Ensanche de Vallecas , at the intersection with Calle de la Cañada del Santísimo, in the Villa de Vallecas District. This open-air space invites you to enjoy a day with the family, surrounded by fresh, high-quality products, contributing to the support of the local economy and small producers.
The municipal initiative is managed by the Federation of Cooperatives and Social Economy of Madrid (FECOMA).

The market offers a wide range of products including fruits and vegetables, breads, cheeses, cold meats, meats, smoked products, olive oil, nuts, dairy products and honey, as well as prepared foods, wine and beer.
During the festival, it also becomes a space for socialising and cultural stimulation with a programme that includes entertainment for children, live music, talks about the products on offer and their production processes, and various themed activities that bring the countryside closer to the city, support the local economy and promote care for the environment.
If you love artisanal and organic products, the Villa de Vallecas Producers Market awaits you on the second Saturday of October.
Latina Producers Market, a reference in agri-food products
The fourth farmers' market in the city of Madrid will open in 2025 and will be held on the fourth Sunday of each month in the municipal plot located on Fray José Cerdeiriña Street with a turnoff to Fuente del Tiro Street, in the Latina district.
Its opening is planned for spring 2025 and it will sell meat, vegetables, fruit and vegetables, oils, natural juices, cheeses, dairy products, eggs and honey, as well as sweets. Its offer will also include herbal and herbal products and drinks such as vermouth, wines, beers and various spirits.
Preferentially welcoming producers with farms in the Community of Madrid and its neighbouring provinces, and with a maximum of 42 stalls to be distributed over a surface area of 1,450 m2 , it is destined to become a benchmark for Madrid agri-food products and a promoter of local consumption and healthy eating habits. Its opening will help to encourage local commerce, employment in the primary sector and attract tourism to the district.
Following the publication of the administrative clauses and technical conditions governing the granting of the public domain concession for its installation and celebration, carried out on September 9 in the Official Gazette of the Madrid City Council (BOAM) and in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid (BOCM), the period for submitting proposals has opened, which will remain active until next October 9. The concession will be granted for a period of five years from the celebration of the first edition, and may be extended for a maximum of five more years.
The opening of these two new producers' markets will allow for a gastronomic fair to be held every weekend in the capital: the Planetarium on the first and third Sunday of each month, Villa de Vallecas on the second Saturday and Valdebebas on the fourth Sunday. The Latina market will be added to this offer next spring. An offer that the Madrid City Council has wanted to distribute mainly in the districts on the outskirts of the capital: Villa de Vallecas, Hortaleza, Latina and Arganzuela.
City Council support for markets
In its commitment to supporting municipal markets, the City Council will allocate nearly 8 million euros this year to encourage their digitalisation, modernisation and dynamisation, improve their sustainability and accessibility and facilitate entrepreneurship and economic activity in them through different lines of subsidies and bonuses. Financial aid to which are added the investments made to ensure the improvement of public space in their surroundings, as has happened in the Numancia Market, in Puente de Vallecas.
These spaces, which are benchmarks for the sale of fresh produce in the city, represent a fundamental axis of two far-reaching municipal strategies, the Healthy and Sustainable Food Strategy and the Strategy to strengthen commercial and hospitality activity in the city of Madrid, for which the Government of Spain has awarded the City Council the 2023 National Domestic Trade Award.
