Curated by Estrella de Diego, it brings together some 88 key works from the 20th century that bring Andy Warhol and Jackson Pollock into dialogue, showing how, despite their different styles, both artists shared concerns about pictorial space: abstraction and figuration, repetition, the use of large formats, the camouflage of the background with the figure, and the autobiographical. The exhibition also includes pieces by other artists who explored similar spatial strategies, broadening our understanding of this artistic period and breaking with common clichés about Warhol as a creator of superficial images or Pollock as a simple master of abstraction.
