Nativity scene at the Madrid History Museum
Nativity scene at the Madrid History Museum
More than fifty figures of animals and humans that represent both scenes from the Nativity of Jesus and the trades, customs and customs of 18th century Naples
...Many of them are articulated figures with colorful clothing and detailed equipment and accessories, made using a tow-covered wire frame into which the limbs and head are attached, carved in wood or baked clay.
Above the classical ruins where the Mystery takes place, a waterfall of small angels descends. Around, filling the entire stage, peasants, bourgeois, shepherds, street vendors, musicians and the representation of the luxury of the eastern court that makes up the entourage of the Three Wise Men. This is the Neapolitan Nativity scene at the Madrid History Museum; an excellent example of the nativity scenes full of delicate pieces created mostly by anonymous artisans and artists from the Italian city that King Charles III brought to Spain and spread.
