Mentioned in several of Galdós's Episodios Nacionales, it began as a bazaar selling all kinds of goods: wicker, wicker chairs, walking sticks, cane goods, espadrilles, rope, raffia, bellows, clogs, gunpowder, rockets, toys, paint, pencil cases, and drugstore items sold by five or six employees. Of the old shop, only the red water jug on white marble that gives the establishment its name and entrance remains.
