SINCE 1754 Probably the third oldest business in Madrid It is probably the third oldest business in Madrid. One of the owners that the establishment has had is Nemesio Palencia and his descendants, of whom one of them, Mercedes, is still in charge
...Mentioned in several of Galdós's National Episodes, it began as a bazaar where all kinds of products were sold: wickers, wicker chairs, walking sticks, boteria, espadrilles, ropes, raffia, bellows, raffia, gunpowder, rockets, toys, paint, pencil cases and drugstore items dispatched by five or six employees. Today it sells drugstore and perfumery products. All that remains of the old store is the red jug on white marble that gives the establishment its name and passage.
