Made in Madrid
The Made in Madrid seal is an initiative of the Madrid City Council created to recognize and give visibility to companies, shops, workshops and producers that carry out their activity in the city and contribute to the strengthening of the local economy.
This distinction recognizes individuals and entities that carry out economic activity in Madrid linked to the design, creation, production, transformation or restoration of goods and services associated with sectors such as crafts, design and fashion, artistic creation, gastronomy and hospitality and local innovation, with high-quality materials, artisanal or creative processes and responsible practices that reflect the identity of Madrid, valuing quality, innovation, professional knowledge and rootedness to the territory.
Obtaining this recognition allows you to be part of an initiative that promotes local production, strengthens the city's economic identity and helps to showcase Madrid's talent and productive capacity.
The "Made in Madrid" label was launched at the last edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid (March 2026) with a stand dedicated to promoting local production and showcasing companies and projects linked to the city. See the full article and photos from the presentation at MBFW Madrid here.
Concession
By Decree of April 8, 2026, of the Delegate of the Government Area of Economy, Innovation and Finance, the Made in Madrid seal was formally created and the public call for its concession was approved.
It is aimed at individuals and/or legal entities that carry out an economic activity, in the following sectors and subsectors :
- Crafts: ceramics, jewelry, wood, leather, etc.
- Design and fashion: clothing, accessories, footwear.
- Artistic creation: painters, sculptors, ceramists.
- Gastronomy and hospitality: restaurants, chefs, gourmet products.
- Local innovation: industrial design, technology with a Madrid identity.
To be considered, applicants must submit a document describing their background and the connection of their product or service to the city of Madrid. This document must adhere to the following specifications:
- Written in Spanish and with a maximum length of 50 pages.
- Contain specific information on the concrete commitments that the natural or legal person has for their assessment and clearly describe the objective and scope of the products or services that make them deserving of the seal according to the assessment criteria.
In any case, sufficient proof of the merits described must always be provided, which is essential for their assessment.
The evaluation and selection of the applications submitted in accordance with the call will be the responsibility of an evaluation committee that will meet every three months, provided that there are applications pending evaluation, with the possibility that it will meet in a shorter period depending on the number of applications submitted.
The following evaluation criteria will be taken into account for the awarding of the Made in Madrid seal:
- Local production and traceability: that the main process takes place in the city of Madrid.
- Authenticity and quality of the product or service: use of quality materials, artisanal or creative processes.
- Ability to transmit positive values to society related to sustainability and social responsibility: use of recycled materials, reduction of footprint, corporate social responsibility, etc.
- Creativity and innovation that provides differentiation, in terms of materials, product design, development process, etc.
- Cultural impact: that the product or service reflects the identity of Madrid.
- Career path and professionalism: experience, prior recognition or innovative potential.
Obtaining the Made in Madrid seal implies public recognition of the commitment to values and good practices, providing differentiation, trust and credibility to the product or service that obtains it, also granting the right to:
- Use of the Made in Madrid seal on products and communication.
- Inclusion in the official Made in Madrid directory.
- Promotion in municipal campaigns, fairs and events.
- Preferential access to municipal support programs (training, grants, networking, etc.).
How to apply for the Made in Madrid seal
Businesses, shops, workshops, manufacturers, and producers operating in the city of Madrid can apply for the "Made in Madrid" recognition, provided they meet the requirements established by the City Council. Applications are submitted through the municipal website , where all information regarding eligibility requirements, evaluation criteria, necessary documentation, and processing procedures can be found.
