MADRID LAUNCHES GRANTS TO DIGITALISE THE COMMERCIAL SECTOR IN 2025

The Madrid City Council has approved a new public call for subsidies aimed at promoting digital transformation in the commercial sector. This initiative, approved by a decree of the Government Area Delegate for Economy, Innovation and Employment on December 23, 2022, seeks to support merchant associations and concessionaire entities of municipal markets to modernize their operational management and adapt to the digital environment.

Objectives of the call

The line of aid pursues three main goals:

  • Promote local trade by encouraging access to technological tools that improve competitiveness.
  • Facilitate the digital positioning of small businesses , allowing them to expand their reach in the online world.
  • Improve public service in municipal markets , making them more efficient and accessible to citizens.

Who can benefit?

Beneficiaries include non-profit associations made up mainly of entrepreneurs from the commercial, hospitality and hotel sectors, as well as holders of administrative concessions for municipal markets. Entities that are in situations specified by the General Law on Subsidies are excluded.

Place and amount

Applications may be submitted from 13 to 27 January 2025 . The total amount allocated is 1,500,000 euros , extendable to 2,000,000 euros. Each beneficiary may receive up to 85% of the eligible costs , with a maximum of 50,000 euros per project .

Eligible actions and expenses

The activities financed include:

  • Development of e-commerce platforms and online presence.
  • Promotional actions on social networks and multimedia channels.
  • Hiring staff for online store logistics.
  • Use of commercial management and customer loyalty software (CRM).
  • Implementation of electronic signage systems and process automation.

The minimum eligible investment will be 5,000 euros , ensuring that the projects have a significant impact.

Payment and justification

Payment will be made in advance after the grant is awarded, without the need for additional guarantees. Proof of expenses must be submitted before 31 March 2026 by means of a supporting statement with supporting documents.

This call reinforces the commitment of Madrid City Council to the digitalisation of local commerce, promoting sustainability and the modernisation of the business fabric.
