The fair, which will be held on the fourth Sunday of each month in Parque Europa, will begin operating in March and will strengthen the local agri-food offer in the capital.

Madrid continues to support local markets with the award of the new Latina Producers Market , which will begin operating in March . This initiative, promoted by the Department of Economy, Innovation and Finance of the City Council, joins the already consolidated markets of Valdebebas, Villa de Vallecas and Planetario, expanding a network that seeks to bring the local agri-food offer directly to the city's neighbourhoods.

A commitment to local and sustainable consumption

The Delegate for Economy, Innovation and Finance, Engracia Hidalgo, has highlighted the importance of these markets as part of a comprehensive strategy to promote healthy, sustainable consumption without intermediaries, as well as stimulating the local economy. “It is a municipal commitment to bring the great agro-food offer of small local producers to the different neighbourhoods of Madrid, while generating business opportunities, employment in the primary sector and balancing the economic development of the city,” said Hidalgo during her visit to the Planetarium market.

The new market will be located on a municipal plot in Parque Europa, on Fray José Cerdeiriña Street. It will have 42 stalls offering a wide variety of local products, such as meats, fruits, vegetables, oils, honey, cheeses, dairy products and sweets. It will also include herbalists and drinks such as vermouth, wines, beers and artisanal spirits, consolidating itself as a reference space for responsible consumption and healthy eating.

A gastronomic fair every weekend

With the opening of the Latina market, Madrid residents will be able to enjoy a gastronomic fair every weekend at different points in the city. The Planetarium market will operate on the first and third Sunday of the month, Villa de Vallecas will be available on the second Saturday, and both Latina and Valdebebas will open on the fourth Sunday of each month.

The City Council has distributed these fairs mainly in peripheral districts such as Hortaleza, Latina, Arganzuela and Villa de Vallecas, promoting decentralization and economic dynamism throughout the capital.

Investment for market modernization

In addition to the expansion of the network of farmers' markets, Madrid City Council will allocate more than nine million euros in 2025 to the modernisation, digitalisation and dynamisation of the city's markets and shopping galleries. This investment seeks to improve the sustainability and accessibility of the spaces, facilitate entrepreneurship and boost local economic activity.

The announcement of the new market has had repercussions in media such as Telemadrid, Radio Nacional de España and Madrid Actual, consolidating public interest in initiatives that promote the circular economy and sustainability in Madrid.

With these actions, the capital reaffirms its commitment to balanced economic development, sustainability and the promotion of small local producers.
