ARCO Madrid 2024, an avant-garde artistic parade that dazzles the capital.
2024/03/08
This week, IFEMA Madrid becomes the epicenter of contemporary art with the 43rd edition of ARCO 2024. More than 200 galleries from 36 countries display the latest news on the art scene, creating a broad dialogue between the international scene and Spanish art .
In this year's edition, 171 galleries are part of the General Program, adding curated sections that add depth and diversity to the event. "The shore, the tide, the current: an oceanic Caribbean" presents 19 galleries, while "Opening. New galleries" and "Never the same. Latin American art" incorporate 15 and 12 galleries, respectively.
ARCO 2024 celebrates the arrival of new international galleries, new participants who break barriers, among which Max Hetzler, Vera Munro, Air de Paris, Fortes D'aloia & Gabriel, Lévy Gorvy Dayan and Hollybush Gardens stand out. These join regular participants, such as Thaddaeus Ropac, Mai 36, and Jocelyn Wolff, consolidating ARCO as a reference for the global art scene.
The participation of Spanish galleries continues to be robust, representing 35% of the total offer with 73 participants. On the other hand, the international segment covers 65%, with a strong Latin American component, with 38 galleries from 13 countries, highlighting the presence of Argentina, Brazil and Mexico.
ARCO 2024 is not only a fair, but also a meeting point for collectors and members of international museums. The presence of institutions such as the Reina Sofía Museum, the Prado Museum and the Guggenheim Bilbao underlines the importance of this fair in the global cultural circuit. In addition, private companies will participate with acquisition initiatives and artistic recognition, while the ARCO Foundation will award the 'A' Awards for Collecting to outstanding personalities from the art world.
