Galileo Galilei
Galileo Galilei
In its beginnings, with just two or three concerts a week, it was the meeting place to chat, drink and so on, around a table or at the bar, seasoned with good music
...Two pool tables and some table football accompanied the board games with which to spend a different time at night in Madrid.
The walls of this historic place used to host interesting photographic and painting exhibitions, where new artists could make themselves known. Currently these same walls collect the photography of the innumerable artists who have passed through its stage.
If the stages could talk... they would tell anecdotes about the beginnings of many of today's established artists, and others who are no longer around like Rafael Farina, Eugenio or Pepe Carroll.
The musical revue also had a place in Galileo at the end of the eighties with Addy Ventura. Record presentations have followed one another since then (Los Secretos, Antonio Vega, Javier Krahe, Pablo Carbonell, Gran Wyoming, Kiko Veneno, Martirio, Ismael Serrano, Pancho Céspedes, Hilario Camacho, Luis Pastor, Pedro Guerra, El Cigala, Tomatio with Michel Camilo, Juan Tamaríz, Pepe Carroll, Faemino Cansado and a long etcetera). Magic and mentalism, humor, model shows and endless varieties have characterized Galileo's career in favor of entertainment. "A concert in the Sala Galileo is not a normal concert.
A cafeteria table, sipping a fantastic gin and tonic with friends and Antonio Vega a little over two meters away is not just music, it is an unforgettable experience, something like old movies in which what you see seems to have been done only for you.".
Three times a year, the Sala Galileo Galilei recalls its cinematographic origin, being the venue, since 1986, for the "Gustavito" awards granted by the Metrópolis-ce film and theater school. The first awards as filmmakers that directors such as Fernando Léon or Santiago Segura collected in their professional lives were at these galas, and we have no doubt that some of those who are now collecting their distinctions... who knows!
Presentations of books, poetry, cultural events against violence, in favor of women, etc... In its 1,100 m2 there is room for everything that is culture without factions or preconceived ideologies to give art itself an opportunity.
As a climax, highlight the effort made for some years now to keep updated, renewing and improving all the technical equipment so that the Hall has one of the best sound systems today.
