...Taking its name from the building where founder and director Pati Lara lived in London, just minutes from its original space on Herald Street, the RYDER has since January 2015 presented the work of emerging and mid-career artists through performances individuals and curatorship
In 2019, The RYDER looked beyond the UK and gallery conventions: it welcomed Rafa Barber Cortell as its permanent curator and opened a new space in Madrid, taking over a renovated horse stable in the vibrant and historic Lavapiés neighborhood. Maintaining its interest in interdisciplinary practices where action and performance act as driving forces of its artistic spirit, the gallery presents a dynamic program that addresses key issues of our time.
In the midst of Brexit and COVID, The RYDER decided to pivot towards a more fluid presence outside of Madrid, with new projects planned in several European locations, as well as a continued presence at renowned international fairs.
