NF Gallery / NIEVES FERNÁNDEZ
More than a space for contemplation, NF/ NIEVES FERNÁNDEZ is a place open to criticism and debate, interested in the creativity and research of artists of our time
...It is a dynamic space that aims to offer a meeting between creators and the public, and in this sense, it develops programs that go beyond the classic conception of gallery spaces. It organizes talks, performances and hosts, since the pandemic, INTERLUDIO, a program of short exhibitions for artists to present projects or pieces that request a different format of appreciation, and that have not been exhibited before.
The gallery also promotes CAMPING, a non-profit project that occupies our space with dance, music, theater, performance and literature, as a mechanism to support cultural agents and strengthen networks. With the ambition of being more permeable and participatory, the project allows cultural agents to freely develop and exhibit their creations.
In addition, we have created VARIATION together with the Parisian Galerie Sator, a collaborative program that aims to expand the international visibility of the artists of both galleries through the presentation of individual exhibition projects in Paris and Madrid. We also created the experimental cooperative platform Noplace through which we collaborate and share resources with the Mexican gallery Arroniz, the Colombian Nueveochenta and the German gallery Michael Sturm.
NF/ NIEVES FERNÁNDEZ aims to offer a meeting between creators and the public, taking the gallery as a privileged landscape in which to enjoy a period of reflection and coexistence away from the shocks of the outside world. Celebrating and honoring the long path begun in 1977 by Nieves Fernández, the gallery today looks forward to the opportunities to come with great enthusiasm, challenging ourselves and the models in which we live through refined artistic practices, informed criticism and sincere dialogues as the only means to build an improved and sustainable society.
