...Both the advertisements and the balloon were typical of English pharmacies of the time. The globe was a sign of distinction, since the first English pharmacists with degrees placed it to distinguish themselves from herbalists and drugstores. It was one of the few in Madrid called "Permanent Service", of which there would be five or six.
