Toledo Footwear
SINCE 1857 Centennial wooden shelves brimming with shoes On Calle de Toledo, corner of Latoneros, in the heart of Madrid de los Austrias, Francisco Rodríguez started the hat and shoe business in 1857 that has survived to this day
...With the traditional dark red wooden doorway of the shoemaker's guild located in the vicinity of the Plaza Mayor, it shows in its windows a multitude of models manufactured in Spain by hand, with a predilection for leather work, high boots, leather boots, mount, lace shoes, moccasins, sandals and espadrilles, all for both men and women, and also katiuskas or wellies; all footwear includes the peculiarity that its soles are made of recycled tire rubber. In the secluded interior, the profusion of wood that covers the walls with a frieze and fills the highest parts with shelves full of shoe boxes is striking; the short counter is also made of wood, and the curious long benches are made of the same material, arranged for the rest of the clients in the usually busy days that the establishment registers. The floor, made of old ceramic, has recorded many steps in the more than 160 years of history of this place, which continues to be open with the same type of genre faithfully dedicated to its usual activity.
