Suma Cruz, Bimani and Marcos Luengo will design Madrid's Christmas lights
2026/10/27
Madrid will incorporate new creations from Spanish designers into its 2026 Christmas lights. The brands Suma Cruz, Bimani, and Marcos Luengo will participate in the city's light displays thanks to a collaboration between the Madrid City Council and the Spanish Fashion Designers Association (ACME), which will bring fashion design to different streets and public spaces during the holidays.
The new designs will be distributed throughout various parts of the city. Suma Cruz will be responsible for the lighting on Carretas and Espoz y Mina streets, while Bimani will design the light decorations for Arenal Street. Meanwhile, Marcos Luengo will create a new fir tree to be installed in San Juan de la Cruz Square.
Three new proposals to light up the streets of Madrid
The addition of these brands will expand the presence of Spanish fashion in Madrid's Christmas lights. Each designer will contribute their own unique vision to the city's decorations, with displays in streets and squares that form part of the urban spaces adorned with lights during this festive season.
In the case of Suma Cruz, his designs can be seen on Carretas and Espoz y Mina streets. Bimani will bring his proposal to Arenal street, while Marcos Luengo will be in charge of designing the new fir tree in San Juan de la Cruz square.
These installations will be integrated into Madrid's Christmas lighting display, which transforms the capital's main streets and public spaces every year. The initiative aims to incorporate new creative perspectives into one of the most recognizable events in Madrid's Christmas program.
Spanish fashion takes center stage at Christmas in Madrid
The participation of Suma Cruz, Bimani, and Marcos Luengo is the result of an agreement between the Madrid City Council and the Spanish Fashion Designers Association. This non-profit collaboration allows Spanish designers and brands to contribute their creations to the city's Christmas lights.
The initiative began in 2020 and, since then, has featured the participation of numerous prominent names in Spanish fashion. These include Devota & Lomba, Andrés Sardá, Duyos, Juan Vidal, Moisés Nieto, Helena Rohner, and Roberto Verino.
Marta Rota for Tot-Hom, Pedro del Hierro, Ulises Mérida, Juana Martín, Oteyza, Isabel Sanchís, and Pablo Erroz, among other designers, have also participated in the project. Their contributions have helped to incorporate designer pieces into street decorations during the Christmas holidays.
The collaboration between the City Council and ACME thus maintains a line of work that connects the creativity of the fashion industry with the celebration of Christmas in Madrid, giving visibility to the talent of Spanish designers in spaces accessible to residents and visitors.
When will the Christmas lights be switched on in Madrid?
Madrid's Christmas lights will be switched on at the end of November and will remain in place until January 6th. During this period, the new displays will be alongside the rest of the Christmas decorations throughout the city.
This year, the Christmas lights will illuminate more than 250 locations across Madrid's 21 districts. This way, the display won't be limited to the city center, but will reach various neighborhoods and public spaces.
The addition of designs by Suma Cruz, Bimani, and Marcos Luengo complements this program, which will once again transform the streets of Madrid into one of the main stages for Christmas celebrations. The new designs can be admired during the weeks the Christmas lights are on, from the end of November until Three Kings' Day.
