Photographer, architect, and artist Sonia Celma (Alcañiz, Teruel, 1974) presents Columna , the winning project of Descubrimientos PHE25 and her most intimate work to date, within the Official Section of PHotoESPAÑA. Starting from a deeply personal experience (her daughter's adolescent idiopathic scoliosis), Celma proposes a visual and symbolic exploration of the body, architecture, and the maternal bond.

From the perspective of someone who has dedicated her life to precision, proportion, and balance, the artist confronts the challenge of accepting asymmetry and imperfection as an essential part of being human. To this end, she establishes a dialogue between her daughter's body and that of classical architecture, taking as a reference the Roman Mausoleum of Fabara (Zaragoza), whose third column, repaired centuries ago, still bears the visible mark of a fracture. This analogy serves as the guiding thread of a narrative in which pain and repair, technique and emotion intertwine in a process of shared healing.

In collaboration with FUJIFILM, Columna can be visited free of charge until August 21 at the COAM – Official College of Architects of Madrid. The exhibition is part of the 29th edition of PHotoESPAÑA, which this year, under the theme "Reimagining," celebrates creativity and the exploration of the limits of the image.

The full program, schedules and updated information can be found on the official PHotoESPAÑA website.
