SAN ISIDRO 2025 LAUNCHES A ROUTE TO DESIGN YOUR CUSTOM CHULAPO OR CHULAPA SUIT

Madrid is promoting local commerce with a creative approach that blends tradition and fashion. This year, the San Isidro 2025 festivities arrive with a new development that combines the best of Madrid's traditions and the talent of small businesses: Madrid City Council, in collaboration with retail associations, has launched a themed route of clothing and fabric stores designed for those who want to design and wear their own chulapo or chulapa costume.

The initiative, called "Your Suit, Your Style," invites Madrid residents and visitors to visit various fabric stores, haberdasheries, sewing workshops, and traditional clothing stores, where they can find everything from Madrid's signature polka dots and checks to personalized patterns and advice from local dressmakers.

Key locations include historic shops in Malasaña, Lavapiés, Chamberí, and Arganzuela, as well as new creative spaces where young designers reinterpret traditional costumes with a contemporary twist.

In addition, some participating businesses will offer express sewing workshops , pattern-making demonstrations, and special discounts during the months of April and early May, just before the big day, May 15 .

With this initiative, San Isidro 2025 not only aims to remain the city's most traditional festival, but also a platform for creativity and Madrid's identity. Because dressing as a chulapo or chulapa isn't just about putting on a costume: it's about telling a story, celebrating a culture... and now, also custom-designing one .
