NEW GRANTS TO BOOST MUNICIPAL MARKETS AND MODERNIZE NEWSSTANDS IN 2025

The City Council is launching a call for grants to promote entrepreneurship, revitalize markets, and renovate urban infrastructure.

The City Council has launched a public call for grants for 2025 with the aim of promoting the occupancy of vacant premises in municipal markets, encouraging the establishment of public interest activities, and supporting the modernization or relocation of newsstands.

This initiative seeks to revitalize traditional local commercial spaces, promoting entrepreneurship and the presence of useful citizen services in neighborhoods and districts with fewer commercial occupancies.

Three lines of aid adapted to different needs

Line 1. Occupation of premises in municipal markets:

  • Recipients : Natural or legal persons, civil societies or other legally constituted economic entities.
  • Maximum aid : Up to 1,000 euros per month for a maximum of 24 months (retroactive from January 1, 2020, to July 15, 2025).
  • The amounts will be adjusted based on the type of activity , market location, and employment level. Female entrepreneurs or companies with a female majority will be eligible for an additional 10% increase.

Line 2. Installation of activities of public interest:

  • Recipients : Same as the first line.
  • Maximum aid : No limit on the amount, depending on the characteristics of the project and the general interest it represents.

Line 3. Modernization or replacement of newsstands:

  • Recipients : Holders of public land concessions.
  • Maximum aid : Up to 30,000 euros per kiosk, covering 95% of the eligible investment, with a minimum of 10,000 euros.
  • In the event of a kiosk relocation , the grant may cover 100% of the cost, up to a limit of 18,000 euros.

Application deadline

Applications may be submitted from June 15 to September 30, 2025 .

These grants represent a key opportunity to boost the local economy, strengthen the role of municipal markets as centers of urban life, and modernize the kiosk network to adapt to the changing needs of neighborhoods. Check out all the information and procedures on the Madrid office website .

IMPORTANT!

For lines 1 and 2 (Municipal market premises) , in the 2025 year, the submission period will be from June 15, 2025, to July 15, 2025.

For line 3 (newsstands only) , in the 2025 year, the submission period will be from June 15, 2025, to September 30, 2025.
