2026/06/19
Photographer Manuela Lorente (Madrid, 1992) presents "Are You Who I Think You Are?" , a photographic project comprised of six stories set in the city of Madrid. The exhibition, part of the Official Selection of the 29th edition of PHotoESPAÑA, will be on display from June 20 to September 6 at the Old Hospital of Santa María la Rica in Alcalá de Henares.
Stories like "He Plays the Music, We Dance , " "And Who's Going to Kill This Rat?" and "How Funny, They're All Crying!" are part of the collection: independent stories where humor, absurdity, the eccentric, the everyday, and the unexpected coexist. Narrated in a lighthearted and ironic tone, they draw on local customs, personal relationships, and the shared imaginaries of popular culture.
Through small scenes and seemingly trivial situations, the project offers a playful yet critical perspective on urban life, exploring how tradition, identity, and everyday gestures shape the city's unique character. The exhibition is part of the 29th edition of PHotoESPAÑA, which this year, under the theme "Reimagining," celebrates creativity and the exploration of the image's boundaries.
The full program, schedules and updated information can be found on the official PHotoESPAÑA website.
