MADRID IS DRESSED IN ART AND SOLIDARITY WITH THE EXHIBITION OF GIANT MENINAS
2024/11/15

The streets of Madrid are preparing to welcome, for the seventh consecutive year, the iconic giant menina sculptures that transform the city into an open-air art gallery. The initiative, Meninas Madrid Gallery 2024 , organized with the support of the National Association of Textile, Accessories and Leather Trade (Acotex) and the municipal program Todo está en Madrid, can be enjoyed from November 15 to December 15 .

The exhibition will feature 30 meninas measuring 1.80 metres in height distributed throughout the districts of Salamanca, Centro, Chamberí, Chamartín and Moncloa, in emblematic places such as Gran Vía, Plaza de España, Templo de Debod, and Callao. Designed by personalities such as Hombres G, Chenoa, Susanna Griso, Cristina Oria, Paloma Cuevas and the Venezuelan singer Karina, these figures reinterpret the Velázquez classic with creativity and unique style.

Art and solidarity as central axes

The Meninas are not only a cultural symbol, but also a charitable cause. At the end of the exhibition, the pieces will be auctioned off, and 80% of the proceeds will go to charitable foundations selected by the artists, brands and the organization. In past editions, the initiative has raised more than one million euros for organizations such as the Aladina Foundation, the Rafael Nadal Foundation and Florida Cancer Specialists, among others.

A bridge between generations and styles

This year, the exhibition includes collaborative proposals such as the project "Flying Together" , which brings together young artists from the Gaudem School with the Acuario de Barajas Senior Citizens Centre, and the participation of the Francisco de Vitoria University , which brings a fresh look to urban art, combining tradition and modernity.

Cultural routes and social commitment

The meninas are strategically located to invite Madrid residents and visitors to rediscover the city's neighbourhoods. From Ortega y Gasset to Plaza Castilla, the initiative seeks to unite art, commerce and solidarity in a unique experience that consolidates Madrid as an international reference for creativity in public space.
