MADRID FROM ANOTHER VIEW: A HERITAGE TRIP THROUGH THE CAPITAL
2024/10/03
Madrid City Council is launching a new edition of the Madrid Otra Mirada (MOM) programme, which invites citizens to explore 192 heritage sites in the city. This year, the programme celebrates its tenth anniversary with a record 223 organised activities , including guided tours, concerts, conferences, exhibitions, workshops, screenings and activities for children.
The Delegate for Culture, Tourism and Sport, Marta Rivera de la Cruz, introduced the event by highlighting the importance of collaboration between public and private entities. "Without the participating entities, this success would not be possible," she said. In 2023, more than 20,000 people enjoyed MOM's activities, making it a benchmark in the celebration of Madrid's cultural heritage.
This year's edition will take place from 17 to 20 October in various venues , including palaces, museums, theatres, churches, cemeteries, parks, gardens, libraries, archives and cultural centres. The main theme will be the 150th anniversary of the birth of the architect Antonio Palacios Ramilo (1874-1945), known for his influence on Madrid architecture.
MOM is also expanding its offering, holding the event over four days, allowing visitors to access places that are normally closed to the public. Among the 192 participating entities, 23 will open their doors for the first time, including buildings such as the Auditorium of the Complutense University, the Casa de Velázquez, and various palaces and museums.
Registration for the activities will begin on October 2 at 10:00 am on the website. This is a unique opportunity to discover and appreciate Madrid's rich cultural heritage. Don't miss it! Here you can download the dossier with all the activities .
