MADRID PROMOTES THE COMMERCIAL, HOTEL AND RESTAURANT SECTOR WITH ONE MILLION EUROS THROUGH NEW GRANTS
2025/04/30
The Madrid City Council has approved a new grant proposal worth one million euros at its Governing Board meeting to support the operation of associations in the capital's commercial, hotel, and hospitality sectors. This initiative aims to strengthen the association network, improve the competitive position of these strategic sectors, and foster the generation of value propositions.
As explained by Deputy Mayor and Municipal Spokesperson Inma Sanz, the grants are intended to finance certain operating expenses of non-profit associations representing entrepreneurs and professionals in these fields, provided they have headquarters or a branch in Madrid. The grants will range from €30,000 to €100,000, depending on the number of members and employees of each entity. A minimum representation requirement will be based on the number of members with a physical establishment in the city.
Applications can be submitted through the municipal electronic office within 20 calendar days , starting the day after the call for applications is published in the official gazettes of the City Council (BOAM) and the Community of Madrid (BOCM), scheduled for May. The eligible period will cover expenses incurred between January 1 and December 31, 2024.
If demand requires it and there is budgetary availability, the credit may be extended by up to an additional 500,000 euros.
This new call is part of a broader strategy to support Madrid's commerce, hospitality, and hotel industries. Throughout 2025, the City Council maintains other funding lines, such as €1.5 million for the digitalization of commerce (extendable by €500,000), €1.2 million for the revitalization and training of the sectors involved, and the nearly €6.2 million allocated to the modernization of municipal markets and food galleries.
With this initiative, the City Council reaffirms its commitment to three key sectors for the economic, social, and urban development of Madrid. The call, now in its fifth consecutive year, builds on the strong results achieved in previous years, such as in 2024, when more than €1.3 million was awarded to a total of 49 entities.
