The ninth edition of Madrid Design Festival 2026 will take place from February 5th to mid-March 2026 and will feature the most ambitious program in its history. Organized by La Fábrica , the festival will bring together more than 200 events, 55 exhibitions and installations, 162 activities, and nearly 300 activated spaces throughout the city.
Under the motto “Redesigning the world” , the festival reinforces its role as a platform that projects design as a cultural, social and economic engine, addressing issues such as sustainability, material innovation, artificial intelligence, craftsmanship and circular economy.
FORMA Design Fair: the big news
The main addition to this edition is FORMA Design Fair , the first Spanish fair dedicated to collectible design. Held in collaboration with Matadero Madrid and DIMAD , the fair aims to strengthen the contemporary design market and position Madrid as a key point on the international circuit.
Three major exhibitions
The exhibition program, based at the Fernán Gómez Theatre, Cultural Centre of the City , will feature:
-
A retrospective dedicated to André Ricard , an essential figure in Spanish industrial design.
-
The collective exhibition Mediterranean Manifesto , co-produced with Cosentino , revisits the cultural and material legacy of the Mediterranean from a contemporary perspective.
-
Guatemala as the guest country, with an exhibition focused on textile design and the huipil tradition.
Thought, city and awards
The Madrid Design PRO professional program will feature figures such as Patricia Urquiola and Luca Nichetto , addressing current design challenges from the perspectives of innovation, social impact, and technology.
In addition, the Madrid Design Awards 2026 will recognize Rossana Orlandi , Konstantin Grcic and Juli Capella for their career and international influence.
With the expansion of Madrid Diseña and the incorporation of Chamberí as a new creative neighborhood, the festival consolidates an expanding ecosystem that places design at the center of the city's cultural and economic life.
