Madrid, June 2023.- Spanish crafts take to the streets in the new edition of Madrid Craft Week, which takes place in the capital from June 16 to 25. Identity, origin and authenticity are the cult values of this trend that is more alive than ever, and that these days is celebrated in more than 200 fashion, decoration, design and gastronomy shops in the city. This eighth edition consolidates Madrid Craft Week as the benchmark event for luxury crafts which, once again, has the support of the Madrid City Council and its initiatives Madrid Capital de Moda and Todo Está en Madrid.

ATTENTION: LOOKING FOR THE BEST CRAFTSMAN IN MADRID

Making the work of artisans visible, recognizing talent and promoting local commerce are the objectives of this initiative. With this philosophy, in this spring event the craftsman who will become the image of the next Christmas edition will be sought through a contest. In addition to an economic prize, the winner will star in Madrid Craft Week Xmas 2023 and will be one of the spokespersons for the III Edition of the Madrid Craft Week Awards. To participate, they must send photographs of their work and explain why it represents the values and character of Madrid Craft Week and its special Christmas edition to the email concursos@madridcraftweek.es before August 31. An initiative made possible thanks to Gin Xoriguer's commitment to national crafts.

SUMMER CIRCUIT ON THE TRACE…

El Rastro is one of the hot spots of this edition of Madrid Craft Week, with a circuit of artisans that revalidates the fundamental role of this neighborhood in the artisan tradition. Among them is Eturel , the decoration and accessories firm of Eduardo Rodríguez Turel, which is inspired by the rural world, with the aim of rescuing and renewing through its products, traditional fabrics, such as burlap, alpujarra or canvas, linked to the life of the town, the countryside and nature. O Planthae , a botanical cabinet (and cabinet of curiosities), whose founder, Elena Páez, anthropologist and botanical expert, does an impressive job of collecting and selling exotic plants, and artisan-designed flower pots. Mario Cruz Designer, Morueco Ceramics and Clarina Ceramics also participate.

…AND IN THE LETTERS QUARTER

A walk through the Barrio de las Letras will allow you to enjoy national crafts from the Association for Textile Creation, in an initiative that has the support of Gin Xoriguer. The shops on Las Letras Street open their windows for the artisans to show their talent in dialogue with the pieces of each establishment . You can see hand-painted silk fans in a beauty shop, headdresses that are almost sculptures in a bookstore, or hand-woven cotton pieces in a jewelry store. In addition to 10 artisans from Madrid, there is representation from the Basque Country, Navarra, the Canary Islands and Coimbra (Portugal).

About Madrid Craft Week

MADRID CRAFT WEEK is an initiative to support and promote crafts and creative talent promoted by LAF DECOM with the support of the General Directorate of Commerce and Hospitality of the Madrid City Council through the Everything is in Madrid program.

From the first moment, they are invaded by the craft phenomenon, a movement that combines the exclusive, sustainable and artisanal: dexterity, design, art, manufacturing and clothing. From there arises Madrid Craft Week, a week in which we celebrate creativity, authenticity and luxury like never before through unique experiences for the client.

An event by and for people passionate about creating and discovering.
