INTERNATIONAL JAZZ DAY 2025 COMES TO MADRID WITH TWELVE CONCERTS IN SEVEN "MADRID EN VIVO" VENUES
2025/04/30

On the occasion of International Jazz Day , declared by UNESCO, Madrid en Vivo launches today the INTERNATIONAL JAZZ DAY 2025 cycle, an ambitious program that will offer the Madrid public twelve concerts spread across seven of the most emblematic jazz clubs and venues in the capital. Between Wednesday, April 30 and Sunday, May 4, the stages of Café Central, Intruso, El Despertar, Rincón del Arte Nuevo, Moe, Tempo Audiophile Club and Big Mama Ballroom will join forces to celebrate an event that, promoted worldwide by UNESCO and the Herbie Hancock Institute, pays tribute to the genre and its endless possibilities for fusion with neighboring styles.

Radio Callao Madrid will return as the official station for the series, broadcasting programs and special content that will accompany each performance and bring listeners live interviews and recordings. The program has been designed for all audiences, with offerings that range from classic jazz, bossa nova, and bolero, but also soul, funk, tango, blues, and the most avant-garde sounds.

The master of ceremonies will be singer Cecilia Krull , who will open the series on Wednesday night, the 30th, at Café Central accompanied by her quartet, with a dreamy repertoire that combines jazz standards with warm Brazilian rhythms. That same day, La Lunfardita will take El Intruso on a sonic journey where tango and manouche jazz converge with a distinct Buenos Aires accent.

On Thursday, May 1st, the show will kick off at El Despertar with Argentine Lara Fichera and her project "Ese Momento," an intimate voice and double bass duo that creates poetic landscapes. The show will be followed by the quintet Serendipity at Rincón del Arte Nuevo, who will showcase their blend of jazz, bossa, and soul.

Friday the 2nd will be one of the most intense days: on the one hand, the Schepels Jazz Quintet , the young Madrid project from Moe, will revisit classics from 1930s swing to compositions by Coltrane and Herbie Hancock; and, simultaneously, the Kurt Weiss Sextet will invade Café Central with their big band sound. That same evening, Trastestrío & Roy Mercurio will take over the dance floor at Tempo Audiophile Club with a fusion of jazz, funk, and hip-hop.

The weekend concludes on Saturday, May 3rd , with the Madrid debut of harmonica virtuoso Mariano Massolo at the Big Mama Ballroom, and a reunion of Sacri Delfino 's trio at Rincón del Arte Nuevo. Meanwhile, at El Despertar, the duo Sons-Nús (Maite Dono and Baldo Martínez) will showcase their minimalist jazz experimentation, and at El Intruso, the Organ Bongo Trio will close out the day with a session of acid soul and unstoppable rhythm.

Finally, on Sunday, May 4, the Luciano González Trio will bring the icing on the cake to INTERNATIONAL JAZZ DAY 2025 at El Despertar, sealing a cycle of sonic encounters that reinforce Madrid's position as a European benchmark for live jazz.
