CHRISTMAS LIGHTING 2022-23
2022/11/24

From November 24 to January 6, Madrid dresses up for Christmas with more than 230 illuminated locations in the 21 districts of the city. A giant Nativity scene in the Plaza de Colón or the new luminous fir tree in the Puerta del Sol are two of the additions to this year's lighting, which also debuts designs in the Canalejas, Chueca and San Juan de la Cruz squares and in the streets Arenal, Jorge Juan, Alcalá between Plaza de la Independencia and Cibeles and Alcalá between Cibeles and Sol. They repeat elements that have already become classics, such as the great ball located at the confluence of Alcalá with Gran Vía, La Menina located on the promenade del Prado or the great fir tree in Plaza de España, which on this occasion reaches 19 meters in height. One more year, Madrid shines for Christmas.

In addition, this year the designers Moisés Nieto, Ana Locking and Helena Rohner join the Christmas lights in Madrid. This disinterested collaboration is the result of the existing agreement between the Consistory and the Fashion Creators Association of Spain (ACME). Nieto, Locking and Rohner will illuminate Arenal street, Chueca square and the luminous fir tree in San Juan de la Cruz square, respectively. The chef and businesswoman Samantha Vallejo-Nágera has designed the lighting that will appear on Jorge Juan street. The decorations of the Plaza de Canalejas and Calle Alcalá between Cibeles and the Plaza de la Independencia, are carried out by Ben Busche .
