
FLAMENCO CAPITAL 2025: TWENTY SHOWS IN TEN TABLAOS AND HALLS AS PART OF THE FIRST MADRID FLAMENCO BIENNIAL

This year, Madrid becomes the epicenter of flamenco with the premiere of FLAMENCO CAPITAL 2025 , a series of 20 performances spread across ten iconic tablaos and venues in the city. This initiative, organized by Madrid en Vivo and part of the Madrid Flamenco Biennial, promoted by the City Council, will take place from May 23 to June 6 , bringing the spirit of flamenco to the capital's most intimate and intimate venues.
The event's artistic direction is led by Ángel Rojas , who has designed a diverse program that encompasses singing, guitar, and dancing , as well as lectures, flamenco fashion showrooms , and fusion musical offerings . All of this aims to highlight the artistic richness of Madrid's tablaos and their key role as living spaces for contemporary flamenco.
Participating venues include landmarks such as Café Berlín, Cardamomo, Candela, Tablao 1911, Teatro Flamenco Madrid, El Despertar, and Rincón del Arte Nuevo , among others.
Essential figures and unique proposals:
The great flamenco dancer Belén López will act as master of ceremonies , opening and closing the cycle at the Tablao de la Villa , with performances on May 23 and June 4 and 6. The duo A Golpe de Rumba , formed by Pablo Álvaro and Juan Barroso, will bring their festive energy to the Rincón del Arte Nuevo, while the Centro Cultural Flamenco will host a luxury trio of dancers: Pedro Córdoba, Lisi Sfair and Belén de la Quintana .
Veteran Juan "El Mistela" will lead three Pure Flamenco performances at the Tablao Torero , and flamenco singer Laura Abadía will fuse soul and Afro-Gypsy flamenco at Cardamomo . Also notable are performances by Antonio Carbonell and Montoyita at Candela, and Laura Marchal 's presentation of her new album , "La Semilla del Encanto," at Café Berlín .
Flamenco, fashion, cinema and new talents:
The program is expanded with parallel activities such as the Flamenco Fashion Showroom with wine tasting (May 30, Teatro Flamenco Madrid), a tribute to the Amor de Dios school , and the Madrid Cantera Flamenca competition, which will award young talents in singing, dancing and guitar.
The final week will include memorable evenings such as Naike Ponce and Paco Soto's at Candela, or Manuel Bohórquez 's lecture on flamenco dancing in the Madrid court. There will also be a film screening of the classic Carmen (Carlos Saura, 1983) followed by a discussion, and a closing series featuring a fusion of flamenco, jazz, and blues with Pepe Carmona and Paco Orellana .
