ENJOY THE FESTIVITIES OF OUR LADY OF CARMEN IN CHAMBERÍ: MUSIC AND ACTIVITIES FOR ALL PUBLIC

The district of Chamberí is preparing to celebrate the Festivities of Our Lady of Carmen from July 6 to 16 , with a varied program of activities for all ages. Journalist and television presenter Manel Fuentes will have the honor of giving the proclamation on Friday, July 12 in Chamberí Square, marking the official start of the festivities.

A sporting weekend to start

The festivities will begin with a weekend dedicated to sports. On Saturday, July 6, basketball and volleyball tournaments will be held at the CDM Go Fit Vallehermoso, a futsal tournament at the Canal de Isabel II pavilion in Santander Park, and a 7-a-side soccer tournament at the football 11 on Pablo Iglesias Avenue. On Sunday the 7th, the ping pong tournament will continue in the same pavilion on the Canal de Isabel II.

For families, a Zumba class has been organized at the CDM Cea Bermúdez on Saturday, followed by an open day and guided activities in the fencing room at the CDM Go Fit Vallehermoso on Sunday.

Cultural activities and news

This year's new features include a flash mob in Chamberí Square and an escape room for young people in José Luis Sampedro Park . In addition, entities such as the embassies of Argentina and Hungary, along with the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson, Ortega-Marañón foundations and the Islamic Foundation of Madrid, are joining the festivities for the first time, offering a variety of cultural proposals.

Music and shows

Music will be one of the main attractions of the Carmen Festival. The Plaza de Chamberí stage will host artists such as Seguridad Social on Friday the 12th , Un pingüino en mi elevator and Antonio Carmona on Saturday the 13th . In addition, there will be tributes to Abba and Hombres G.

The Galileo Cultural Center will be the scene of children's shows on July 12, 13 and 15 . José Luis Sampedro Park will also offer a children's gymkhana and an escape room for young people on Saturday, July 13 . The streets of Ponzano and Fuencarral, as well as the municipal markets of Alonso Cano, Chamberí and Vallehermoso, and the municipal sports centers, will be key points of the celebration.

Participation of institutions and museums

Chamberí museums, such as Sorolla, Geominero, National Geographic Institute, Félix Cañada and Andén Cero, will participate with free guided tours. The Amaya Theater will offer special discounts for its shows.

In addition, the Embassy of Argentina, the Islamic Foundation of Madrid and the Goethe Institute join the festivities with guided tours. The Hungarian Embassy will present a concert by the Barangolok group in Chisperos Square. The María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation has organized workshops and conferences, while the Ortega-Marañón Foundation will offer an exhibition on the beginnings of Spanish women's sport.

Religious celebrations

On Tuesday, July 16, a mass will be celebrated in honor of the Virgen del Carmen, followed by a procession through the streets near the church of Santa Teresa and Santa Isabel in Plaza Pintor Sorolla.
