DISCOVER THE ARTISTIC WORLD OF PROUST AT THE THYSSEN-BORNEMISZA MUSEUM

The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza is hosting a unique exhibition dedicated to the connection between Marcel Proust and the art world. Considered one of the most influential writers of the 20th century, Proust also displayed a profound interest in painting , music , and theater . The exhibition explores how the art of his time influenced his literary work, his personality, and his life.

The exhibition presents a selection of paintings , sculptures , designs , and manuscripts that reflect key aspects of Proust's work. The writer was profoundly influenced by the artists of his time and by the great masters of the past , whose influence is palpable in his literature.

Throughout his life, the writer was in contact with the vibrant modernist and cosmopolitan Paris of the late 19th century, an environment that shaped both his personality and his literary output.

Among the pieces on display are works by artists such as Rembrandt , Van Duck , Monet , Manet , Renoir , and Whistler , as well as Proust manuscripts from prestigious international museums. The exhibition also includes items related to architecture, fashion, and the performing arts, such as costumes by Mariano Fortuny .

Of particular note is " Pleasures and Days " (1896), one of Proust's earliest books, which already reflects his passion for the arts. In this work, the writer recreates iconic settings such as the French coast, the palaces of Faubourg Saint-Germain, and bohemian Parisian life.
