CALLE 24: LAVAPIÉS IS TRANSFORMED INTO A GIGANTIC URBAN ART MUSEUM

Lavapiés is preparing to host one of the most exciting events of the year: CALLE 2024. From April 8 to May 21 , the streets of the neighborhood will become a giant canvas where renowned artists, emerging talents and members of the elderly will capture his creativity and artistic vision.

The contest starts with the intervention of the guest artist Basket of Nean , a recognized leader of Street Art in Madrid. His work "La Fuente de Lavapiés", inspired by the history of the neighborhood's Central Fountain, is an impressive example of urban art that has captivated all viewers.

But the real surprise comes from our elders, who have created the work " Departing a Trace ", using their own bodies to make molds of their faces, hands and feet. This emotional tribute to the origins of the neighborhood and its people highlights the value of the history and identity of Lavapiés.

In this eleventh edition, CALLE 2024 presents a diverse selection of works, from paintings on glass to collage murals, through artistic interventions of all kinds. Among the notable participants are Pezones Revueltos, Dante Arcade, Sr Gotta and Zai, whose works reflect the cultural and artistic wealth of the neighborhood.

Contesting artists will compete for prestigious prizes , including the Jury Prize, the Alhambra Prize and the Audience Prize, each endowed with a generous sum of money and art materials. In addition, the awards ceremony will take place on April 24 at 8:00 p.m. at Citynizer Plaza , 17 Juanelo Street, where the talent and creativity of the participants will be recognized.
