Literary booths: a call to poetry arrives in Puente de Vallecas, Usera, Tetuán and returns in May
2026/03/17
The cultural program of 21 DISTRITOS presents Literary Booths, a sensory experience that connects with literature through a gesture as simple as picking up a telephone. On the other end, poems and excerpts from authors such as Lorca, Gloria Fuertes, Antonio Machado, and Emily Dickinson await, along with a passage from Don Quixote, an entry from María Moliner's dictionary, or verses from Shakespeare in English.
The installation consists of three English telephone booths that invite you to listen from the intimacy of a small, secluded space, as if the words were whispered only to the person inside. The activity is recommended for ages 10 and up and, as it takes place outdoors, is subject to favorable weather conditions.
Literary Booths can be enjoyed on four dates, all with free admission: March 22, 2026 (12:00 pm) at the Nueva Numancia Market (Puente de Vallecas), March 27, 2026 (5:00 pm) at Av. de Rafaela Ybarra, 41 (Usera), April 12, 2026 (11:30 am) at Plaza de la Remonta (Tetuán), and May 23, 2026 (6:00 pm) at Bulevar Peña Gorbea (Puente de Vallecas), as part of the Puente de Vallecas Book Fair. Approximate duration: 180 minutes.
