2026/04/28

The 21 Districts cultural revitalization program kicks off in May with a packed schedule of activities for all ages, spread across 13 districts of the city: Tetuán, Ciudad Lineal, Vicálvaro, Salamanca, Carabanchel, Centro, Chamartín, Barajas, Hortaleza, Puente de Vallecas, Retiro, Moncloa-Aravaca, and Fuencarral-El Pardo. Illustration, creative writing, and music workshops, concerts, participatory theater, performances, roller dancing, and open-air listening sessions are just some of the offerings coming to the neighborhoods throughout the month.

The program kicks off on May 5th with a sound fiction workshop at the María Zambrano Library in Tetuán and runs until the end of the month with a schedule that includes, among other events, a jazz fusion concert with the Sinouj Quintet in Hortaleza, the literary booths of Proyecto Cultura in Puente de Vallecas, the participatory series 'You Conduct the Orchestra' with the European Youth Orchestra of Madrid in Barajas, a concert of tambourines and percussion with the Portuguese collective CRUA at the Faro de Moncloa, and a roller dance party with a live DJ in Las Tablas. The Casa de Vacas Cultural Center in El Retiro Park hosts several of the month's highlights, with performances, folklore, and open-air listening sessions on its terrace.

The 21 Districts program, promoted by the Area of Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Madrid City Council, thus continues its commitment to bringing contemporary culture and citizen participation to all corners of the capital.
