2026/07/01
21 DISTRICTS, the cultural revitalization program of the Madrid City Council's Department of Culture, Tourism, and Sport, concludes its first-half program with four events combining creativity, participation, performing arts, and live music. From July 3 to 5, the districts of Villaverde, Vicálvaro, and Puente de Vallecas will host the final activities of the season before the summer break.
The closing events will kick off on July 3rd at 6:00 PM at the Ágata Sociocultural Center (Villaverde) with Fanzineitor, a self-publishing workshop led by illustrator Ruango and illustrator Triza. This workshop invites participants to discover the fanzine as a free, accessible, and creative tool for expression. Through drawing, writing, and experimentation, participants will develop their own publications and explore new ways to give voice to their ideas. That same day, at 8:30 PM, Don Antonio de Andrés Square (Vicálvaro) will be transformed into a fantasy world with Enchanted Dreams, an acrobatic and circus theater performance by the Colombian company Tchyminigagua. The show tells the story of a girl's journey through a dream world populated by acrobatic jesters, impossible stilts, music, and aerial acts, and is designed for audiences of all ages.
The program continues on July 4th at 11:00 PM in Cerro del Tío Pío Park (Puente de Vallecas) with a concert by Astrid Jones & The Blue Flaps, who will present their latest album, Shine. Their live performance blends soul, jazz, reggae, and African rhythms in a show that celebrates diversity, identity, and the power of personal stories, as part of the Las lunas de Vallekas series. The season concludes on July 5th at 10:00 PM in Valdebernardo Forest Park (Vicálvaro) with Djali Kunda Ba, a sextet that explores traditional West African music and its connections to contemporary sounds in a vibrant performance that combines original compositions with traditional repertoire. This performance is part of Las noches de Vicálvaro (Vicálvaro Nights).
After the summer break, 21 DISTRICTS will return on the weekend of September 18 with a new program that will bring music, theater, dance, participatory activities, workshops and contemporary creation to the city's neighborhoods for audiences of all ages.
