Madrid, EXT. once again offers a different way of seeing (and hearing) the city: a “symphonic film” directed by Juan Cavestany with music by Guille Galván that explores what Madrid sounds like and what its inner rhythm is
...The screening will take place in the Salamanca district on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., at the Emilia Pardo Bazán Cultural Center (Recoletos neighborhood), as part of the 21 Districts program and the city's agenda.
The film functions as a vast visual and auditory archive made up of distinctly Madrid snippets (the everyday and the unusual, commerce and urban life, architecture and its inhabitants) and plays with a very free mix of documentation and experimentation, drama and comedy, deconstruction and homage. Behind it is Cavestany, a playwright, screenwriter, and director (with works such as Vota Juan and Gente en Sitios) and with a distinguished career in theater as well: in 2008 he won the Max Award for Best Playwright in Spanish for Urtain, in collaboration with Animalario.
As for the practical details, the event will be held at Calle de Goya, 1 (28001, Madrid), with free admission and open to the public until capacity is reached. The session lasts approximately 123 minutes (screening followed by a discussion with the director), and the venue is wheelchair accessible. For easy directions, the nearest metro stops are Colón and Serrano (Line 4). Further information can be found on the 21 Districts website and in the municipal agenda/Todo está en Madrid (Everything is in Madrid).
